Taapsee Pannu on Pay Disparity
Taapsee Pannu said, “Funnily, people think I do films like Judwaa or Dunki for money; I get paid a lot. But no, it is the opposite—I get paid more to do films that are headlined by me, like Haseen Dillruba. Other films don’t really pay me much because they feel they are doing a favour by taking me up in that kind of film.” In Dunki, the actress worked with Shah Rukh Khan. To give a little perspective to her thought, she explained that the movies that have a male lead actor who’s a big name won’t require a leading lady that charges a hefty price. The role can be played by a female actor who might not be heavy. She also added that it’s now a well-established fact that male heroes influence decisions about which female actor would be a part of the project. She asserted that the director will also have no say in the decision until he is a big name in the industry.
