For all the entertainment news fans, as you know, Stree 2 had a remarkable start on August 14, with sold-out paid previews beginning at 9:30 PM. According to reports, the horror comedy grossed an estimated Rs 8.25 crore, surpassing the previous record of 6.25 crore rupees set by Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express in 2013. As reported by Indian Express, the early estimates suggest that Stree 2 could earn an opening day total of 40 crore rupees. However, adding Rs 8.25 crore from the paid previews will only benefit the Amar Kaushik directorial for its first-day collection, which could even surpass 50 crore rupees. Reportedly, the film sold 3,92,000 tickets in national multiplex chains alone on August 14, surpassing the first-day bookings of major blockbusters like Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra, and Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan. Overall, Stree 2 secured 8,24,483 advance ticket sales across single screens and multiplexes, generating an estimated revenue of Rs 23.36 crore. This places the film ahead of other massive releases like Baahubali 2 Hindi, Jawan, Pathaan, KGF 2 Hindi, Animal, and War in terms of advance bookings.

Stree 2 clashed with two other major Hindi releases: Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham and Sharvari’s Vedaa. Compared to Rajkummar and Shraddha’s movie, the other two films were behind in the race when it comes to advance booking. However, Akshay and John’s movies have received mixed reviews from critics. It will be interesting to observe how these movies perform at the box office from day 1 onwards. As it’s a long holiday until August 19, anything can happen.
