Emergency: Kangana Ranaut agrees to censor board’s cut; here’s what we know

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut who will be seen charming her fans with her role in the upcoming film Emergency has reportedly agreed to the cuts of her movie suggested by the censor board. On Monday, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) informed the Bombay High Court that Kangana who is also the co-producer of the film has agreed to the cuts suggested by the board. Well, the submission was made before a Bench of Justices BP Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla by advocate Abhinav Chandrachud who is representing the CBFC as per a report in Bar and Bench. If reports are to be believed then, the Court was hearing a petition by Zee Studios, the co-producers of the film. The plea was filed after the film got into a controversy and people called for a ban on the project for misrepresentation of the Sikh community. The censor board had stated that the film could be released after certain cuts. Advocate Sharan Jagtiani, representing Zee, revealed that Kangana Ranaut has accepted the proposed cuts and also ensured that these are the only changes expected. The producers seek confirmation on the changes and the hearing has been postponed. It will now be held on Thursday. Talking about Emergency, the film has been co-produced by Manikarnika Films and Zee Studios. The film was scheduled to release in cinemas on September 6. The storyline of the film will take you through the life of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who had imposed a 21-month emergency period from 1975 to 1977. Kangana will play the role of former prime minister in the movie. The political drama also stars Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, and Shreyas Talpade in main roles.
