The Hema Committee Report, which revealed serious cases of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry, has caused a big stir. The report highlights how powerful individuals in the industry have mistreated and sexually abused female actors and technicians over the years. Following this, many in the industry have spoken out, and even Mohanlal, the Mollywood superstar, resigned from his position as the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). His resignation came after several members of the AMMA committee were also named in the report. Yesterday, he finally broke his silence. One day after his statement, Malayalam superstar Mammootty shared his thoughts on the report in a Facebook post. On his Facebook post, Mammootty explained why he waited before commenting on the matter, stating that he wanted to allow AMMA and its leaders to respond first. The superstar expressed full support for the recommendations made in the Hema Committee Report and stressed the importance of all film industry associations coming together to put these recommendations into action. Mammootty wrote, “The full version of the Justice Hema Committee report is before the court. Let the police investigate honestly. Let the court decide the punishments. There is no ‘powerhouse’ in cinema. Cinema is not an arena where such things can exist. The practical recommendations of the Hema Committee report must be enacted if there are legal hurdles. In his post, the Bramayugam actor mentioned that AMMA and its leadership should be the first ones to react to the revelations made in the report. “I believe that I should give my opinion as a member only after their responses; that is why I waited this long,” the superstar posted.

Meanwhile, in his statement, Mohanlal wrote that AMMA cannot answer everything and they will cooperate with the investigation. He also said that he has no idea of any power group and he’s not any part of it. ” But everyone cannot be blamed for this. Those responsible will be punished, investigation is going on,” said the Malayalam actor. He said that the Malayalam film industry is a very hardworking industry.
